Post Pride Let Down?
Some people in the GLBT community look at Pride as the "Gay Christmas." You get to see all of your friends from the cities and out of town in one place: The Park.
Dean and I decided not to be in the parade this year, do to moving and weather. It is a stress taking down the cake slices when we see rain. But, they will be back next year with a twist! But, our coffee was for sale at the OutFront booth....iced and hot.
The highlight of the weekend for us was Lavender's Brunch at Solara. I don't know if people are aware of all the good things Lavender does for the community and nonprofits, but the brunch on Sunday was a great example of one of them. They traded Solara for 200 FREE brunches and gave 150 of them to Claire Housing and 50 to the Good Time Softball Team Bandits. The two groups were allowed to sell the brunch tickets for $15...all of money went to the nonprofits! NO OVERHEAD...the tickets sold out quickly because after brunch all you had to do was walk out the door to see the parade. Keep this in mind for next year. KUDO to Lavender...thanks for the community support!
