Yesterday was World's AIDS Day. Can you believe that AIDS has been an epidemic for 25 years? And that over 25 million people have died from this disease?
Dean and I went to pick up our tuxedos for our ceremony and the 20ish young man helping us asked, "Why does everyone have a red ribbon on today?" Amazing! I could not believe that the red ribbon was not common knowledge.
The Wilde Roast Cafe catered the Grand Opening of Clare House yesterday. Clare House is the newest part of the AIDS Care Partners (BINGO A GO GO). The Clare House is located several blocks north on Central of the cafe. Here is an article on the Clare House:

The Lavender Book Club was packed last night when author Neil Willenson read from his book A Journey of Hope: Inspiring Stories of Courage and Unconditional Love. The book is an anthology of poems and stories written from Camp Heartland's staff and campers. Camp Heartland is a camp for kids living with HIV/AIDS. Several of the campers were present and read their stories from the book. The stories were really inspiring, like Lupe who for her 21st birthday wants to have a fundraiser for Camp Heartland because it has made such a difference in her life. Query Booksellers still has some copies of the book to sell.
