I don't know if you noticed the change in the name of the book club, but it is now The Lavender Book Club, hosted by Wilde Roast Cafe and Query Booksellers. Why? Well, by having them pick it up our authors will have a page in Lavender Magazine describing the book and the author. After advertising that Lavender was taking it over we got a ton of new authors wanting to be involved in the book club. The GLBT writers in the Twin Cities need to get the praise they deserve, and this will help. Other than the title nothing else has changed about the book club, you can read the book and come meet the author or just come and meet the author.

Dean and I just got back from our FIRST vacation in over a year....the build-out started last August. We went to a seminar at our coffee roaster in Duluth. I found out some cool stuff about WHITE TEA. Firstly, black tea has been fully fermented during processing, and green tea has not been fermented at all. White Tea is in the middle. They come from the Camellia sinensis plant, and are picked and harvested before the leaves fully open (when the leaves are still covered by fine white hair). If you are drinking tea for your health, you may want to consider the white teas, it has less caffeine. If you like our teas we do sell them retail along with our beans! The rest of the weekend we spent at Spider Lake Lodge (see links)!

Do you ever wonder why coffee costs more at a coffee house than the Foldgers at your house (kidding). Well, it is because the bean is better and the growers are paid a fair price. We use Alakef Coffee for our beans. They roast in Duluth, MN (Dean and I are going up there this weekend for some training). Alakef is now Certified Kosher. It has the endorsement of UMKosher (United Mehadrin Kosher). If you want to find out more about our beans check out the Alakef web site: http://www.alakef.com/

We got an exciting offer yesterday. We were asked to provide the dessert for a John Kerry Fundraiser this month. Oddfellows is catering the meal and the Wilde Roast Cafe will be providing the dessert AND Bette Midler will be the entertainment! This will be a fairly small function, around 200 people! Yes, the Divine Ms. M!

What a busy weekend! "Just when you think it is safe to go back in the water." We would be cleaning up from the breakfast rush to be hit again by the lunch crowd. I am definitely not complaining....just very tired. This weekend we introduced our FRESH-SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE MIMOSA INFUSED WITH RASPBERRY. A nice way to cool down on a hot summer morning.
