BUNKO is a Go Go...we are set for Monday, June 21st! My sisters are getting the prizes ready. The game will begin at 7:30pm. We will have other games set up if you are not into BUNKO.
The rain is the Wilde Roast Cafe's best friend. A very busy weekend.

Don't let the rain bring you down...just think of how your garden and lawn will look. Dean and I were going to paint our house this weekend. It will have to wait until summer, which by the way is ONLY 6 school days away. I have one of my favorite classes this year and will miss them.
If you are looking for entertainment tonight come by the cafe and hear Jay Spears, the L.A. musician will stopping by the cafe to perform tonight at 9pm. Learn about Jay and his music at jayspears.com.
He is in town for the big softball tournament, hope they play in the rain.

I love the rain. I would have never thought rain would help business, but this weekend we were packed. I guess it could be just that word is getting out. Thanks for coming by this weekend.
Our first Game Night will be June 21st @ 7:30pm! I think we will start with BUNKO....my sisters Sarah and Mary will run the event. http://www.bunkonet.com/
We are also thinking of a "Show Tunes" Night. Our friend Chuck is a great piano player....it will be a sing-a-long. Not sure when we are starting...any suggestions?

A funny thing happened on Mother's Day. A daughter brought in her mom and dad for brunch. They were talking about coming over from St. Paul because their daughter was in the previous night and loved the place. I got to talking to them and they described their house and garden. I remembered it because they were on the Highland Garden Tour. Then Ira (dad) let me know he played in a jazz group. He asked if they could play at the Wilde Roast Cafe. YES! They are going to play Monday, June 7th at 7:30pm to about 10pm. So, book that night for another fun night of free music at the WRC.

Thanks to the Art-A-Whirl we had our biggest day on Saturday!
When we developed the idea of a gathering space in NE Minneapolis we hoped we would end up with regulars to sort of give the place a face other than ours. Now we have our Norm and Cliff. Their names are Pete and Jemal. It is nice to see them in the cafe and Dean panics if they are not there. Say "Hi" to them next time you are in the Wilde Roast Cafe. Pete is a writer and usually has ice tea by the fireplace. Jemal is working on his PhD at the U of M and is usually working on a lap top at one of the high tables. We also have a Dr. Fraiser Crane, his name is Matt and he sits with Jemal. Matt is a brain...working on his PhD at 22!
Dean and I are trying to think up other fun nights besides the Wednesday Jazz. Some ideas are a game night, where you could come and play board games and meet people. Another idea is a showtune night. We would hire a piano player and everyone would sing along. Email us if you have any interest in either idea.
