Been busy putting up the sheetrock (see picture). Got some good news...windows and doors might be in by the end of next week. This means the stucco guy could start sooner, and the exterior will be done!

SHEETROCK IS IN! Thanks to many friends who came by last night and helped move the 110 sheets into the building. Dean actually finished sheetrocking the bathrooms yesterday. Now with the inspections finished all the walls (they are framed already) can get sheetrocked....then the tape and mud next week, and paint after that. The fireplace was installed yesterday also.

I am getting behind in my entries, a lot is happening so quickly. The roof was finished on Thursday, so we are ready for the heating and cooling unit to be installed early this week. Dean's framing passed inspection (as did the electrical) this week. We have ordered the sheetrock to be delivered on Tuesday....looking for help if you can be around the cafe on Tuesday around 5pm. The sheetrock will take about 5 days (100 sheets)....taping and mud to follow. Still thinking of a Christmas week opening!

GREAT NEWS! The windows and doors will be installed sooner than expected. Which means we can start to sheet rock the walls earlier. We wanted to wait until the building is secure before we finished the walls. But, the plumbing and electrical will be inspected this week, so we might sheet rock next week. The fireplace will be installed next week too. I have been working on the "plantscape" design for the Wilde Roast Cafe.

Life, for us, is made of tiny stepping stones. It is hard when people stop by to see the space and don't see much, and we see everything coming into the 3D, like: the cafe's interior walls are framed, the exterior brick work is done, the window and door person is coming in tomorrow to measure and order (should take 3 weeks), and our plumber and electrician will be done this week.
For the past year we have been looking at the cafe in 2D and now we are making steps. Now, we can step up to the space where the service counter will be and see the soffit above the space. We can finally see the frame for the fireplace and wall that will define the couch sitting area. We know it won't be long.
We have also been busy behind the scene. The prepaid cards have been ordered, I finished the PRESS RELEASE, and working on ideas for interior paint schemes. This is a lot of work!
PS Query, the bookstore we are attached to was written up in the Star Tribune today.

They say the best, and cheapest, form of advertising is word of mouth. If you know of any good Wilde Roast Cafe employees (part or full-time) please forward them this web site....because now they can get an application online. We will be setting up interviews for early December.

The walls are going up quicker than we first thought, with the help of Dean's high school friend Dave. We should have the plumber and electrician back in next week to finish the kitchen.

Meeting with US Foods and the ad person from the Rake today while the floor is finished. The floor should be ready for walls on Wednesday. From that point we are expecting a 6 to 8 week build-out phase. Walls will be ready for paint around Thanksgiving...for anyone interested in helping us that would be the weekend.
