This has been a big PR week. Wilde Roast Cafe had articles in the September 25th edition of the Northeaster and the October edition of the Southeast Angle (local papers). We were also mentioned in the About Town section of Mpls. St. Paul Magazine (p. 204). WOW!

Stopped by the building today for a photo shoot for the Southeast Angle. The addition walls are almost finished.
Our friends, Jim and Craig, who own Sticks and Stones and Spider Lake Lodge (see link), helped us pick the fireplace furniture grouping: a leather Chesterfield couch and huge (4x4) ottoman, and four comfortable fabric high back chairs. It arrived yesterday and looks awesome! Thanks guys.

The footings of the addition were poured last week and the foundations were raised to ground level. The old hotel roof came off. Some hold-ups were found, like new footings are needed in our area (not expected).
John from The Southeast Angle interviewed us for an article in next month's paper! Our first advertisement will be in this week's Lavender...check it out.

Now for a little history lesson. This information is from the building owner. The home of the Wilde Roast Cafe started out as a hotel around 1900. The hotel is the southern rectangular part (right side of picture)of building. In the 1950's a fire took out the upper floors of the hotel, so they were taken off and a roof was placed over the lobby. The tin ceiling is still up, but very damaged. It will be removed. Then in the 1960's the triangular portion of the building was added and the space was used for marine repair and sales. I guess boat sales was booming in that time. In 1998 the marine business moved and the space has been empty. In the soon future the building will be squared off to home four new businesses.....The WIlde Roast Cafe, Query Bookstore, and two undecided.

Today we released our first online newsletter! Again, thanks Brian for all of your help. The floor is almost all dug up in our site. Once the floor is gone we can put down the plumbing and replace the floor....then the new ceiling and walls. It is a long process, thanks for waiting and keeping us motivated. We will have a new picture soon.
