Our manager Joe’s Coffee Cupping Class was a sell out, he will be holding another one in April.

This month he will be hosting a wine tasting on March 19th at 7 P.M. This event will only cost $10 a person. We will be pairing 5 different wines with samples of: starter, salad, 2 entrees and a dessert.

YOU will be getting a 5 course meal sampling with the wine tasting for only $10!

We are going to hold 20 people for this. Sign up will start on Friday. Email Joe (joeatwrc@aol.com) or call the cafe (612.331.4544) to sign up.

We have been reviewed on the web site Minneapolis St. Paul Restaurant Critics,  CHECK IT OUT and add your comments. Thanks MSP Foodies! They only came in for breakfast…hopefully they will come back for dinner or an award winning dessert.

Don’t forget this Sunday is our long awaited afternoon knitting at Wilde Roast. I thought it would be fun if we had our own version of show and tell…..the Academy Awards of Knitting. Bring some of the great things you have made to show and tell about. In addition bring some of those UFO (unfinished objects) to show and get inspired to finish……or not.

I have some amazing new yarns to brag about and some sassy spring projects to lust over.

Steven - The Glitter Knitter

The Urban Knitter’s group will be meeting in the Parlor: March 2, 16 and 30th. Catch Steven Berg at the cafe from 1 to 4pm on those Sundays to join the knitting class: learn some advance skills, hear Steven’s stories, and meet new friends.

Bachmeier, Thomas Wayne Tom Bachmeier, age 47, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2008 surrounded by family and friends after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Thomas Wayne Bachmeier was born July 19, 1960 in Fargo, ND to Frank and Donna Bachmeier. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School. He held various positions in Fargo, Chicago and Minneapolis, most recently for the Target Corporation of Minneapolis. Tom enjoyed life to the fullest and touched many people with his spirit, love, sense of humor, and contagious laugh. As Tom would say with a smile, “It is, what it is.” He is survived by his parents, Frank and Donna Bachmeier; brothers, Mike (Laura), Jeff (Eileen), Jon (Teresa), and sister, Denise (John) Taves; nieces, Tina, Tiffany, and Kate (Taves); nephews, Levi, Cole, and Chase. Memorial service Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. Anthony’s of Padua, Fargo, ND, with visitation one hour before the service. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held in early June.

Our next artist was our first artist! He is a long time friend of mine, Neil Sherman. His opening is on March 3rd from 6 to 9pm.

Nelson, Damon age 47, of Minneapolis, died peacefully on February 7, 2008 in the home he loved following a brief and sudden illness surrounded by loved ones. Damon was born December 11, 1960 in La Crosse, WI to Stan and Maxine (Dammon) Nelson. He is survived by his mother, Maxine; partner and friend, John Moore*; loving sisters, Linda (Richard) Koeller, Lana (Eugene) Smithart, Robyn (Michael) Tanke and Rhonda Beeskau; nieces and nephews, Ben Smithart, Jenna (Nate) Smithart, Ryan Tanke (Lindsey Jacobs), Matthew (Katie) Tanke, Jordan and Allie Beeskau; and many wonderful and close friends. Damon was a 1978 graduate of La Crosse Central High School and later graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in English Literature. He had a passion for learning and his interests were diverse. At the time of his death he was a realtor with Caldwell Banker in Minneapolis and also worked as a message therapist. As a young man he performed with the Minnesota Children’s and Guthrie Theater’s. His love for theater arts and travel took him around the country performing with various groups before landing in Minneapolis – the city he made his home. He fought passionately for causes he believed in. He was a fundraiser and activist for the DFL Party and a devoted volunteer and advocate for Wittier Alliance – an organization for the and betterment of the neighborhood he loved. Damon was a friend of Bill W. He was a great support to many and was respected, admired and loved by all who knew him. His beautiful smile and warm sense of humor remained with him through his final days. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Memorial services will be held at 6 PM Wednesday, February 13 at Washburn McReavy Davies Chapel, 2301 Dupont at Hennepin Ave. S., Mpls. Visitation one hour prior to services.
