My niece’s daughter is a model for CHANGE THE WORLD. Change the World is a program that promotes school kids to give their change to help fight hunger in the world. Her real name is Sierra, but for the fundraiser her name is Neenah, she was the flower girl at our wedding.
Fan-i-low: a fan of Barry Manilow
Last night a friend gave Dean and me tickets to see Barry Manilow. At first I didn’t want to go, remembering Barry as the gay punch line to many jokes in Jr. High School. But, I have to admit…he rocked. He played for two solid hours and not only played all of his hits (which there are MANY), but all of the big songs of the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. So, I am not a fanilow (the Excel Center was packed with them), but did have fun.

One Voice Mixed Chorus - Winter Concert Uncommon Light: Brahms & the Beauty of Shadow
January 25-26, 2008, 7:30 pm
Tickets $25 or $18 Central Presbyterian Church, 500 Cedar St., St. Paul
An inspiring program that explores the imagery of light and darkness, the singers will perform choral masterworks by Johannes Brahms, giving concert-goers a chance to revel in the lush melodies and burnished harmonies of one of the greatest Romantic composers. Special guest conductor Dr. Vance George
Uncommon Light features some of the most beautiful and poignant choral music written to honor the sacredness of night and the wonder of light, with compositions by Palestrina, John Rutter, and St. Paul composer Elizabeth Alexander. Brahms’ achingly beautiful Nänie serves as a centerpiece. Performed by the combined choirs, Nänie’s poetry evokes Greek mythology to mourn the death of one of Brahms’ dear friends. The concert concludes with How Lovely Is thy Dwelling Place from Brahms’ luminous “German Requiem” sung by both choirs with over 140 singers!
Our New Years gift to you. Go to this link to get the coupon, then print it out and bring it in to the cafe. It is a good chance to try one of Chef Jeff’s new dishes like the pot roast, pork loin, or veggie burger….or stick with an old favorite like the turkey meat loaf.
Dean picked up a few of these to sell at the cafe, come quickly he only got 4 of them.
