Gay Marriage

Posted July 26th, 2006 at 11:06 am by Tom

What do you think about this?

Ronald Reagan - divorced the mother of two of his children to marry Nancy Reagan, who bore him a daughter only 7 months after the marriage (Do the math, that means he cheated and got Nancy pregnant!).

Bob Dole - divorced the mother of his child, who had nursed him through the long recovery from his war wounds. Classy.

Newt Gingrich - divorced his wife who was dying of cancer. Even more classy.

Dick Armey - House Majority Leader - divorced

Sen. Phil Gramm of Texas - divorced

Gov. John Engler of Michigan - divorced

Gov. Pete Wilson of California - divorced

George Will - divorced

Sen. Lauch Faircloth - divorced

Rush Limbaugh - Rush and his last wife Marta (the two DIVORCED last year) have SIX marriages and FOUR DIVORCES between them.

Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia - Barr, not yet 50 years old, has been married three times. Barr had the audacity to author and push the “Defense of Marriage Act.” The current joke making the rounds on Capitol Hill is “Bob Barr…WHICH marriage are you defending?!?

Sen. Alfonse D’Amato of New York - divorced

Sen. John Warner of Virginia - divorced (once married to Liz Taylor.)

Gov. George Allen of Virginia - divorced

Henry Kissinger - divorced

Rep. Helen Chenoweth of Idaho - divorced

Sen. John McCain of Arizonia - divorced

Rep. John Kasich of Ohio - divorced

Rep. Susan Molinari of New York - Republican National Convention
Keynote Speaker - divorced

So … homosexuals are going to destroy the institution of marriage?  Wait a minute; it seems the Christian Heterosexual Republicans are doing a fine job without anyone’s help!

Red states Kentucky, Mississippi and Arkansas, for example, voted overwhelmingly for constitutional amendments to ban gay marriage. But they had THREE of the HIGHEST DIVORCE RATES in 2003.

P-Town Was A Blast!

Posted July 18th, 2006 at 8:19 am by Tom

DSCF0701.jpgPTown was a blast. It was BEAR WEEK, so I felt thin ( a bear is a bigger gay guy, with hair)! Here is a picture of some of the Bears we met, actually we met Jeff (bottom right) and Jacques (I GOT SKILLS T-shirt) on the RSVP Cruise. Jeff is Varla Jean Merman when in drag, and Jacques co-wrote his show. We are still trying to find a date for Varla to come to the cities for a show in the fall.

P-Town Vacation

Posted July 6th, 2006 at 8:14 am by Tom

VACATION! Dean and I are heading out Saturday to PTown for the week. We have never been there, but it is sort of a summer Mecca. It will be fun to see Miss Richfield and Varla Jean, both have stage shows in PTown. I plan on reading several books from my list! With the new job and move I have gotten behind.

If you have any question about the cafe while we are gone Jason and Brandon will be in charge. Thanks guys!

What is a “Gay Business”?

Posted July 5th, 2006 at 6:39 am by Tom

It is always interesting to hear how different people define the term Gay Business. Some people think a gay business is one that only gay people go to, like a gay bar. Others believe that a gay business is one that is owned by gay people: Twin Cities Quorum Members (http://www.twincitiesquorum.com/index.php5). While others believe if your business advertises to gay customers then it is a gay business.

The definition is not written out.

The only reason I am bringing this up is now that we live in Lake Elmo (near Stillwater) we want to support local gay or gay friendly businesses. I saw an article in Lavender about such businesses and the Lake Elmo Inn was listed.

Then I saw this: http://images.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?25990438471

The owner of the Lake Elmo Inn gave $1000 to Bachmann for Congress. Now, how could a business listed in Lavender as a gay friendly business give money to Ms. Bachmann? Well, the clear answer is he doesn’t mind the gay dollar from the gay customer but he doesn’t really support us.

Someone needs to define the term gay business.
