Green acres is the place for me. Farm livin’ is the life for me. Land spreadin’ out so far and wide Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

What does this mean?

In January a job opened up with my school district as Director of Belwin Educational Center. It is a district run program in Afton, MN. All 3rd and 5th Graders in St. Paul Public Schools spend one day at center learning about the environment.

It is a job I always wanted: working with kids outdoor. Today I found out I got it! I will start in a week.

Last night was the P FUND 2006 Scholarship Celebration Program. P FUND was founded in 1987 as a community builder for GLBTA future leaders. This mission is done by giving grants and scholarships to developing leaders in the GLBTA community.

Dean and I were asked by our friend Bill King to co-sponsor a scholarship. The intent of our scholarship to be awarded to a GLBT teacher or student pursuing a teaching degree.

The reciever of the first King/DeGree/Schlaak Scholarship was Mark French. You might know Mark as being the out principal of the Osseo School District who was on the TV program with Rosie O’Donnell. Mark is seeking his doctoral degree and his superintendent’s licensure.

2006- BEST PIZZA: Pizza Nea

Pizza Nea is one of our North East neighbors and has a great hand tossed pizza cooked in a wood burning oven. Plus Mike, the owner, is a really nice guy. Several months ago Pizza Nea opened a second location in the Uptown. The build-out is beautiful you should check it out next time you are at the Lagoon for a movie.
