SUMMER OF PRIDE….what is this? That is what many people are asking. Well, with all of the things happening with laws to stop or limit GLBT Rights we thought that one weekend was not enough to celebrate PRIDE. So, Lavender came up with the idea of a “Summer of Pride.” It will be a calendar (online and in Lavender) to spotlight any GLBT event in Minnesota this summer….starting with the KICK OFF event on June 10th at the Wilde Roast Cafe. We are getting a tent, some free food, a signing of the Lavender Pride Edition (3D art work) and some music.

Other events you may not know about that will be featured will be anything that wants to be a part of the calendar…you will be able to go to the web site at Lavender and post your event for everyone to see.

http://www.lavendermagazine.com/summerofpride/

Some events I can think of are:

GLASS Tennis Tourney June 10-12th
Twin Cities PRIDE June 24th - 26th (look for our float this year)
North Star Rodeo July 1-3rd
Fringe Festival August 4-14th
others I can think of but don’t have the dates are the Red Ribbon Ride and the AIDS Trek….but, really anyone will be able to enter their GLBT related events to the calendar for all to see.

This will all end on Labor Day weekend in Duluth with OUT Magazines “Hottest Small Town PRIDE” 2005.

Do you remember about 10 years ago when the gay Softball World Series was held in the Twin Cities? The 90’s had the block party to beat all parties. Well, it is time to beat that party. The Wilde Roast Cafe is hosting the Lavender Pride Edition release party on June 10th. We will have a our parking lot blocked off for the event. So plan on coming that night, seeing the 3D Lavender cover…and having a good old time.

This was a great weekend for FUNdraising! The Bingo A Go Go raised over $20,000 for the Park House. Of course the Divine Miss Richfield 1981 was a riot (picture posted soon). Then, on Sunday the weather cleared just in time for 10,000 people to walk along the Mississippi River for 6 miles to raise money for the MN AIDS Walk…our team raised over $4,000. Dean’s goal is to raise $20,000 next year (our team photo will be posted soon).

We have been getting about 20 calls a day about MOTHER’S DAY…

Posted May 2nd, 2005 at 12:09 pm by Tom

We have been getting about 20 calls a day about MOTHER’S DAY. Most are asking if we take reservations. After a long consideration Dean and I have decided not to change the set-up of the cafe for the day. So, we will not take reservations for Sunday, May 8th.

We realize this might lose us some customers for that day, but we want our regulars to know that we are not changing the set-up every special day just to get more people in the cafe. Of course Jason will be making up a waffle special for the weekend and our regular brunch menu will still be served until 1pm. Thanks in advance for understanding.
