One of the really nice perks of owning a business is making connections with people. Dean and I met Shayna Berkowitz and her partner last summer at Spider Lake Lodge (see links). Shayna told us about this exciting film she was producing called “WELLSTONE! The Documentary Film.”

She mentioned that they were doing a pre-premire showing in October and asked us if we would be interested in providing some refreshments for the showing. Of course we jumped on the chance to see this film. Well, the pre-premire was last night at St. Paul Academy. Family and friends were invited to see the film and have an after film chat, it was very moving and timely.

Remember the word KARMA? A Hinduism & Buddhism word meaning: the total effect of a person’s actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person’s existence, regarded as determining the person’s destiny. Well, I found out that the big box order was an effect of karma. The Wilde Roast Cafe is a sponsor of the AIDS Trek. I was at the kick-off event for the Trek this year and met this neat lady with a great story. She adopted 3 boys from Africa who came to the US for a basketball exhibition. She is a pharmacists representative. She and I chatted at the event for a while, and it was her who put in the big order for the box lunches. By the way it went off very well…thanks!
