From Fresh Cup Magazine - November 2004

Q: How did you arrive at your Oscar Wilde theme for your coffeehouse and how did you see to its consistence throughout the design?

A: We wanted a place that didn't exist in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul), a place that was nice to look at but reasonable in price.

We took old writers' names and joined them with coffee terms. Wilde Roast Cafe, named fro the famed 19th century playwright, Oscar Wilde, became our coffeehouse. Dean and I spent many days in salvage stores and found many great features from the 1900's... like the fireplace mantle, pillars and lights. The finishing touch was the paint. We tied together the old and the new using period paint.
